SSCS End of Year News and Notes

The last quarter of the year, as always, is a busy one.

The industry’s last quarter starts with the end of NACS and ends with New Year’s. That’s an eventful time for the U.S. consumer, which means it’s an eventful time for c-store operators, who have to constantly adjust their merchandise mix, promotions, and marketing focus to maximize profitability as one holiday leads into another.

As a general rule, when our customers get busier, SSCS gets busier, and this year is no exception. We released a new version of our flagship back office system, CDBWin (Classic CDB) last month, with a systemwide group of enhancements, a list which users can find by logging onto the SSCS Portal. Highlights include support for the Affiniti POS system and integration with Lula Commerce for online ordering, which is used by Circle K and others. In addition, CDBWin users can now import spreadsheet data from a larger variety of relevant third-parties, such as G/L and other bookkeeping type software, for integration into the back office.

CDBWin wasn’t the only product to receive recent updates. A week or so ago we released Lottery Management 3.0 with its own set of performance and UI improvements. And though our Tobacco software gets updated with manufacturer information and discounts on a quarterly basis, a recent addition to that flow of data comes from RJR’s Circana Retail Scan Program.

The portal is particularly valuable to customers, with regular updates to the above mentioned enhancement lists, our user documentation and videos, and our tips of the month.

Tying all the end of the year activity together for SSCS is our company meeting. Team members travel across the country to come together in our Salinas headquarters, a chance to get caught up in person with joint training, developer sessions, sales meetings, and new product and feature demonstrations. It’s like a reunion, and adds a personal touch to the season for all of us.
