SSCS Was There: The Tribal Summit Group Membership Meeting

SSCS connects with a key part of their customer base.

SSCS enjoys attending the Tribal Summit Group Membership Meeting, this month sponsored by the Puyallup Tribe. The Tribal Summit Group serves the tribal fuel and convenience store industry across the Western United States. As stated on the home page of its website, the Group’s mission is to “encourage economic success in Indian Country by uniting Tribes in the sharing of best practices, building effective relationships with our partners and leveraging the strength of our members.” Membership is open to all tribes, many of which are SSCS users. And since the business health of our customers is our top priority, the work the group does is important to us: We’ve been a sponsor since 2014.

“It’s only natural to support the growth of our Tribal partners since their growth, in turn, fuels our own,” states SSCS VP of Sales Shawn Herrick. “The Tribal Summit Group’s educational initiatives, shared best practices, and measured approach to pursuing new business opportunities is absolutely integral to our mutual success. We’re glad to be able to support an organization that does so much to help its communities prosper.”

Attending the meeting at the Emerald Queen Casino in Tacoma, WA—not far from SSCS user Tahoma Market—is essential and fun. It gives us a chance to catch up, in an informal atmosphere, with a key part of our customer base. In addition, we get to hear about the developments and challenges facing the retail petroleum industry filtered through a tribal perspective. The meeting also manages to mix in an interesting keynote/seminar every year, the 2018 offering being, “Dynamics of Leadership: How to Handle Difficult Conversations.”

SSCS makes an effort to attend as many important industry meetings and trade shows as it can. You can find a list of where we’ll be in 2018, along with the number of our booth at each, on the Events Page of our website.
