The State of the Industry in One Convenient Package

Need to get a finger on the industry’s pulse? Try this book.

There are many perks to being a member of the National Association for Convenience Stores (NACS), as SSCS is. Sure they put on a great show (as you can see from our previous posts on NACS 2013, NACS 2014, NACS 2015, NACS 2016, and NACS 2017), but the organization is much more than that.

Everything that NACS brings to the table is described in detail on its own website, but we’d like to take a few moments to talk about the information the organization provides.

When you write, as we do, about the convenience store industry on a weekly basis, you must keep up to date to remain credible. The challenge? Finding time to do the required research. That’s where NACS comes in: it’s an invaluable source of timely, curated, and detailed industry information that—whenever we need it—helps jump-start our search for the pulse of the industry.

A prime example landed in our mailbox this week: The NACS State of the Industry Report® of 2017 Data, 200 pages of information that provide as complete a picture of the industry as there is likely to be.

Assembled in association with research giant, Nielsen, and utilizing CSX LLC, NACS’s online database of financial and operating data, the report provides meaningful context for every aspect of the industry we could think of, and then some: financial performance, merchandise, food service, fuel products, industry overviews, and a lot more.

The detailed data spilling across each page is more often than not accompanied by colorful images, charts, and infographics that help the reader get a quick grasp on what’s being presented. Text summaries on almost every page add to understanding.

Honestly, you could probably write about a hundred analytical articles based on the report’s content.

Industry newbies, seasoned veterans, and everyone in-between will undoubtedly find much of value in this report, but don’t take our word for it. Find out more all about The NACS State of the Industry Report of 2017 Data on the NACS website. It’s even discounted for NACS members.
