Salinas, CA, September 3, 2015 — Service Station Computer Systems, Inc. (SSCS) announces the release of the Computerized Daily Book™ (CDB) 7.5.1, the latest version of SSCS’s flagship back office system for C-stores and gas stations.

Through the CDB, SSCS provides the most POS interfaces available in the industry. CDB 7.5.1 serves as an illustration of how SSCS leverages its decades of experience in this area on behalf of its customers by providing access to the widest possible variety of register sales data. It does this even as SSCS’s POS partners up their game and refine their technology to best meet the needs of the market.

“Convenience store operators are more aware than ever that the wealth of data resident in their POS systems, when organized meaningfully, can contribute significantly to their success,” stated SSCS Vice President of Sales and Marketing Al Stoberl. “Since getting this information into their back office is important to our customers, it becomes imperative that we we communicate with our partners on an ongoing basis and understand how the information they collect at point-of-sale can be best processed for users, even as it evolves. It’s challenging, but worth it, and the latest version of CDB reflects our efforts.”

Eight new trend analysis reports that can be gleaned to provide business insights using data from the leading POS systems in the industry, are featured in CDB 7.5.1:

“Our poller interface software may seem esoteric at first glance, but the seamless passage of information back and forth between POS and back office is a core benefit for users and a basic strength of our system,” states SSCS Vice President of Sales and Marketing Al Stoeberl. “With POS partners consistently improving the methodologies they use to identify and process specific types of information at check-out, it’s our obligation to make sure our users can leverage these in the CDB without adding undue complexity to their daily work. CDB 7.5 is a demonstration of that commitment.”

Other notable, non-poller-related features of CDB 7.5 include:

  • Four new end-of-shift warning and severe alerts:
    • Max Refund Count>

SSCS Announces Latest Release of VS-Poll Interface Software for the VeriFone Commander and Ruby Ci

This version of VS-Poll facilitates posting, processing, and conversion of electronic sales information from the VeriFone Commander and Ruby Ci to the Computerized Daily Book back office program.

Salinas, CA, September 8, 2015  — Service Station Computer Systems, Inc. (SSCS) announces the introduction of VS-Poll version 2.0.82 POS Interface. The software adds functionality for the VeriFone Commander Site Controller and Ruby Ci, in addition to its current compatibility with the VeriFone Sapphire.

The poller interface software, as it is known in SSCS parlance, allows sales data to be transferred back and forth between SSCS’s CDB back office software and a point-of-sale (POS) system. In the specific case of VS-Poll 2.0.8.2, users can post sales data from the store’s Commander or Ruby Ci systems to the CDB. The interface passes data from the CDB to the POS, as well, including NAXML deal/VIP/enhanced deal files.

VS-Poll 2.0.8.2 also fetches fuel configuration from the Commander (which includes the POS programming for the fueling dispensers, products, mops, tanks, and prices for the site) as well as fuel site information from the Sapphire (with the ability to view the fueling dispensers, products, mops, tanks, and prices for the site.)

With VS-Poll, retrieving fuel and non-fuel sales data generated by the POS is a matter of a few simple steps. So is posting that data to the CDB. Programming the Commander, Ruby Ci, or Sapphire from the PC running CDB—whatever its location—is likewise possible, a capability that includes report generation. The same bookkeeping workstation can upload new site parameters and prices for all the operation’s Commander, Ruby Ci, and Sapphire controllers, assuring uniformity among sites and significantly reducing the time required to make changes. Best of all, this additional functionality does not disrupt work flow at the POS.

“As fuel retailing evolves, the tools that add efficiencies to fuel retailing are also evolving, as demonstrated by the Commander and Ruby Ci,” states SSCS Vice President of Sales and Marketing Al Stoeberl. “The new version of VS-Poll helps CDB users get the most out of this new generation of POS systems and the data they provide by providing an interface that is both powerful and simple to use. This software integration facilitates tight management control from the convenience of a central location, even in enterprises with remote stores. It’s a great way for CDB users to leverage the powerful features of the various VeriFone POS systems.”
