Stunning Landscapes and One-of-a-Kind Villages Await You

SSCS is always looking to differentiate itself in the market, most prominently through our comprehensive c-store technologies and superior service, training, and after-sale support.

But we’re unique in another way. The area in which we do business—the Salinas Valley and the adjoining Monterey Peninsula—is flush with natural beauty and populated with localities with their own unique sense of place. When you’re creating a distinctive company image, it never hurts to associate yourself with stunning landscapes and one-of-a-kind villages and hamlets, which is why our blog posts often feature them. We mentioned this kind of “local color” post in passing a few months ago, but given the regular stream of new readers to the blog, we thought we’d call them out a little more specifically.

It also gives us an opportunity to run a few previously unpublished pictures of the areas in question. They accompany this post.

Pacific Grove (February 27, 2014) — These little travelogues—which we once called “The Undiscovered Monterey County,” started almost three years ago with this one about Pacific Grove, a great little town that sits in the shadow of Carmel and Monterey and often gets overlooked as a result. If one of these articles requires expansion, it’s probably this one, which is much shorter than the entries that were to come. Pacific Grove is one of our favorites. Read the post here.

Monterey (January 16, 2015) — This time we took on the bigger, higher profile city of Monterey, the first capital of California. Monterey had enough to offer that we made this a three-parter. The early morning sun made many of these shots—some of them historic buildings over 150 years old—extra striking. Access the articles here: Part 1 Part 2 Part 3.

Carmel-by-the-Sea (August 6, 2015) — Encouraged by the positive response to previous travelogues, we didn’t wait quite as long to publish this one. It’s on the decidedly high-profile Carmel by-the-Sea, which for a little town sure has a lot of interesting sights. Read the complete three-parter here: Part 1 Part 2 Part 3.

Carmel Valley (October 22, 2015) — 12 miles (and about + 10 degrees) inland from Carmel lies Carmel Valley, a bucolic rural community that just seems suited for the month of autumn. We wrote about it here.

Salinas (February 25, 2016) — Readers know that Salinas is our hometown; it’s where our headquarters is located, and in some ways we’re a reflection of the town, and vice-versa. Read about it here.

Big Sur (March 3, 2016) — A five-part epic covering an epic location; the stuff of legends, even. During the course of finishing this we traveled over 30 miles. It was worth it, but don’t take our word for it: Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5

Fort Ord (September 21, 2017) — Most readers may remember this, as we posted it not so long ago, but for the sake of completion, here’s our series on Fort Ord coming back from the dead. Part 1 Part 2 Part 3

We are currently in the process of migrating these travelogues over to the SSCS Corporate website under the heading, SSCS Country. If anybody has an opinion on whether this is something they’d like to see, drop a comment. And if you have any requests for parts of the Salinas Valley/Monterey Peninsula that you’d like to see covered, again, drop a comment.

See you next week!
